Dot SE Domains

The dot SE country-specific domain extension was set up in 1986 and assigned to Sweden. During the first years after its introduction, the registration process was very restrictive, so a very limited number of domains were grabbed. Persons could reserve solely one domain under .PP.SE (“pp” stands for “private person”). Local presence was compulsory, i.e. only Swedish individuals, companies and organizations were able to register a dot SE domain. In 2003, however, the registration process was loosened notably and, consequently, the number of .SE domains has been rising each year.

These days, anybody can obtain a .SE name, which gives you the chance to contact the Swedish net community even if you do not have a local presence.
